Global OOo Community Principal Mr. Louis Suárez-Potts Visited National Application Software
Product Quality Supervision and Test Center (NAST)

　　May 16th, 2007, afternoon, accompanied by Redflag 2000’s General Manager Hu Caiyong, global OpenOffice.org’s (hereinafter referred to as “OOo”) open source community principal Mr. Louis Suárez-Potts, visited National Application Software Product Quality Supervision and Test Center (hereinafter referred to as “NAST”), and exchanged views with Director of the Center, Mr. Hu Qinghua, Deputy Director of the Center, Mr. Xie Tengxiang, and Open Source Software Lab Director, Dr. Cao Zhiyue about open source community’s application and development.
　　　　　　
　　Director Hu introduced to Mr. Louis about China open source community in actual production’s application and effects. Director Hu pointed out that until then China’s open source technology had made very good achievements. Depending on open source technology’s force, we have resolved many problems including the ones in industry and technology during modernization development, and built a solid basis in national economic development. However, from the perspective of China open source community’s development, the exchange between Redflag 2000 and other international open source organizations is relatively insufficient. Nowadays, relevant government authorities are also actively promoting cooperation with other international open source organizations.
　　Knowing NAST was interested to attend the 2007 OOo World Annual Conference, Barcelona, in September, Mr. Louis explained in detail to NAST about conference participating procedure, and suggested that NAST could deliver a speech on ODF compatibility.
　　The two parties also discussed issues on how to promote ODF, the compatibility of ODF and MS and other issues. Mr. Louis explained to NAST that: there are mainly two organizations for promoting ODG: one is ODF association, with more than 5,000 large and small enterprise members; the other is ODF adoption, with the mission mainly to share certain relevant ODF information, making enterprises grasp on time ODF’s latest development trends. Louis stated OOo community would like to continue to make contributions on promoting ODF in international application. When talking about the compatibility of ODF and MS, Mr. Louis believed functions required by customers are our starting point of consideration; only by considering this can we realize better compatibility. Mr. Louis wished to cooperate with NAST on test and training.
　　After the conference, Mr. Louis visited with a high spirit NAST’s first class software test platform, and took photos. The two parties look forward to making further cooperation.
