¡¡¡¡The annual international OpenOffice.org conference (the OOo conference) is the summit feast in the field of international open source technology. Top open source technicians and elite force across the world gather together to share their achievements in open source technology through forum, lecture and other interactive means, advocate to use the open source technology progress effectively, upgrade the world software technical level, and go all out to smash the technical monopoly.
¡¡¡¡Redflag2000 has always focused on and actively participated in relevant work of the international open source community. In September 2006, it attended the International OOo Conference held in France. At the conference, it not only absorbed and learnt many open source knowledge, but also constructed preliminary communications with the international open source society, and established contact. In October 2007, Redflag2000 was present at the 5th International OOo Conference at a major participant. At the conference, the idea that ¡°Software was culture¡± raised by Redflag2000 aroused the highly recognition and admiration of the international open source society. The participation in the annual conference and community work helps Redflag2000 gain significant position in the international open source community. In terms of project development, Redflag2000 has organized a project team with over 50 members to take charge and participate in dozens of project developments of OOo, and designated special persons to head the performance improvement team and the localization team. Regarding the core management level, Redflag2000, as the main contributor of the community, together with SUN, Novell, IBM, Ubuntu and RedHat as important members of the community advisory panel, will plan for the community development at a higher level; meanwhile, engineers of Redflag2000 have entered the ¡°engineer leadership panel¡±, and can talk with community functionary directly, so as to synchronize the domestic and international information. When it comes to products, RedOffice of the company has gained the unanimous acknowledgement of the international open source community. It is thought that the product, in certain aspects, has reached or transcended the internatinal level, and is a product with strong substitution.
¡¡¡¡Out of the understanding to OOo and resolution to China¡¯s open source undertaking, Redflag2000 hopes to host the 2008 6th OOo Conference on behalf of China and let the feast in the international open source society to land in China, also let open source technology to root in China. This application has gained the recognization and vigorous support of Beijing Municipal Science&Technology Commission, Changfeng Alliance and other domestic open source organizations. Currently, the application and various preparation work are under way. We believe that, in China with the largest user market across the world, the convention of the conference will have more people to access open source, know it and use it, which has significant meaning to the development of global open source undertaking, and will generate huge impetus to China¡¯s informationalization construction and the development of software industry! Letting the world know China and China¡¯s open source undertaking is just the powerful drive for us to host the conference.
¡¡¡¡Currently, Open, P2P, share and global operation have become new business rules. The open source community advocating freedom, participation, dedication and communication will become the main stream in the information field. The OOo conference is not only an exchange conference of the latest technology and the latest application technology in the real sense; what¡¯s more important, what the conference exhibits is just the magic power of large-scale cooperation that changes all these. Redflag2000, depending on the open source community, has always insisted on the development philosophy of coming from the community and rewarding the community to win further respect and boost its influence in the community. The OOo conference hosting is helpful to further enhance the exchange and cooperation with the open source community, and contribute to the rising of Chinese force in the community. We hope that the convening of the conference will catch the world¡¯s eyeballs to China¡¯s open source undertaking, and attract more Chinese enterprises to join the community and benefit from the global brain storm.
¡¡¡¡Redflag2000 now is going all out to host the conference, and hopes that 2008 will not only see China usher in the feast of the world people¡ªthe Olympic Games, but also the global feast of open source technology!
