Open source, dream further
-Peter Junge, Redflag 2000's Open Source Strategy Director, attended open source culture week

As a warm-up activity for the final session of 2007 Competition of Open source Skill for College Students, Open source Cultural Week started on Nov. 30th in Beijing Jiaotong University. Peter Junge, a German experienced member in OpenOffice. org International Community, Redflag 2000's Open source Strategy Director attended the opening and gave a keynote speech.

Peter Junge first gave a brief introduction of himself, the development of OpenOffice.org international community he had been related to and fought for. His love for open source was impressive. He strengthened that Open source has been a wonderful gift to humankind and it is changing our world. Our of love for open source, he came to the East, joined Redflag 2000 to continue his passion for it and constantly procured Redflag's cooperation and communication with OOo community and other open source manufacturers. He said that, with information industry entering the participation age, open source community boasting a further and deeper development, open source software has taken the mainstream. China's no exception. Judging from the development of Redflag 2000 where he worked, he believed that open source would have a wider development in China.
In the culture week, Peter was deeply moved by students' passion for open source, and related it to the broad prevalence of open source culture and domestic software development. He encouraged those at presence to continue their study and application of open source and also introduced about OpenOffice.org. He said that, the community is neither unreachable nor mysterious, but open to the participation of all.
At last, he mentioned that universities should vigorously increase the content of open source software, which would help cultivating creative talents. For individual students, those days that holding business software certificate issued by Microsoft equals finding a decent job were gone. They themselves would not be satisfied with this single paper. Open source mode helps them better understand the connotation of software and then join in the exploitation of open source software to get practical experience. Talents play an extremely important role in software field. Open source study is here to bring their dreams further. "Love open source as you love life" is Peter's expectation of himself as well as all those who are to be devoted to open source.
