Status quo of open source development in China
In recent years, open source software, due to great application potential, has been taking increasing share in Chinese market and facilitated development and expansion of Chinese open source movement; Chinese market is becoming a big stage for competition of global open source software and proprietary business software.
Chinese open source movement has transited from the initial starting period into the gradually mature growth period. Some unstable and immature characteristics showing in the initially starting period of the open source movement are constantly being eliminated or transformed during growth of such movement towards mature.
China is starting to shift to a development pattern characteristic of participation in opening-up of open source community through getting out of the conventional enclosed one in an enterprise. At present, China is expanding the size of Volunteers team participating in international community development and also gradually transforming from pure ^open source consumer ̄ of international open source community into a community developer.
The situation that individual enterprises breach open source agreement (such as GPL) has been corrected gradually; the tendency featured by paying no attention to engineering experience and engineering innovation during the development of open source software is being changed; emphasis has been attached on quality testing certification conducted by collaborative partners (IHVs, ISVs and SIs) on open source products developed on their own.
Chinese open source movement is stepping from the stage of learning and imitation into the development stage of innovation and application, thus forming a lot of internationally accepted emerging open source enterprises.
The movement has transited from the single Linux industry, into the stage featured by overall development of the open source industry.
